The mezuzah shown here is of Jerusalem with its many arches and walls. The actual mezuzah is the piece of parchment contained in a decorative case inscribed with specified Hebrew verses from the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21). We sell the decorative case ONLY. The case is hollowed out and the scroll can be inserted inside.
Size: 6 1/4 x 1 1/4 inches.
This is hand painted by the Jerusalem artist Emanuel with brush and acrylic paint. Then several layers of lacquer are applied making it possible to wash with water.
A mezuzah is affixed to the doorframe of Jewish homes to fulfill the mitzvah (Biblical commandment) to inscribe the words of the Shema "on the doorposts of your house."(Deuteronomy 6:9).
The mezuzah is signed by Emanuel.
